Artist Agreement
ART & CONSIGNMENT POLICY
HOTWIRE COFFEEHOUSE
Our store regularly rotates art pieces and goods crafted by local artists. We love to assist in promoting their craft for the enjoyment of our customers. This policy applies to artists who show and display their artworks for sale on consignment, i.e., we do not own these goods.
ARTIST ROTATION
Artists are featured roughly every month. Rotation is influenced by the local Art Walk calendar so that artists are fresh for patrons participating in the Art Walk. We may or may not be registered for the Art Walk surrounding our shop. Artist installation should occur a minimum of 3 days prior to any Art Walk and optimally on the first day of the month, with social media posts commencing once the art is installed on the walls.
ARTIST REQUIREMENTS
Artists must hang and remove displays with minimal impact to walls and fixtures used for display. We do not supply items for installation, nor do we install art on behalf of artists. Artists are required to install their works securely, with minimal damage to the surfaces used, and will be required to reimburse the shop for any damage beyond standard wear and tear as would be reasonable to hang a portrait or item on display. The artist's works are to be appropriate for all ages, non-political, and non-offensive (unless content is approved by the owner in advance) and should include a few accessible pieces ($50-$150 price range) so that the artist can experience success in their showing. Artists must install and uninstall within 2 hours during the authorized time slots communicated. Artists must also arrive on time for their installation and removal; we reserve the right to carefully remove art from the walls if an artist does not arrive on their scheduled date and time but cannot guarantee the safety of art pieces provided, as we do not have secure storage.
COMMISSION - 15% of SALE
We retain a 15% commission of the gross proceeds of all art sold for wall maintenance, repair, and coordination. This is retained at the END OF THE SHOW from the total proceeds collected on behalf of the artist. No proceeds will be provided to the artist until the END OF THE SHOW, at which time they retrieve their art and leave behind the pieces that have been purchased.
PAYMENT ACCEPTED: CASH OR CREDIT
If customer payment is made by CREDIT CARD, a 5% fee will be retained by Hotwire Coffeehouse from the final payout to recoup credit card fees charged by our credit card processor. This will be reflected as a deduction from the payment upon completion of the show.
ART SALES
All works should remain on the walls until the show is complete. Art sold will be collected following the completion of the show except for small pieces and crafts available for same-day sale. If a customer must have a piece that is on the wall and cannot come back to retrieve it, they may take the piece. In such a case, you, as the artist, will be contacted to replace the piece removed (if possible) and/or adjust the show so it still looks appropriate.
ARTIST RECONCILIATION & PAYMENT
Artists are not paid until their show is complete. A reconciliation will be printed, and all proceeds, less a 15% fee and a 5% credit card fee for purchases made with a credit card, will be issued via check on the fifth day of the following month and will be mailed to you unless you request to pick it up from Hotwire.
