Patrick Robinson: Photography

“I've been taking pictures ever since my brother handed me a camera when I

was twelve. I've shot with every film format you can think of and then I

went on to do other things only really buying my first serious digital

camera three years ago. I look for light, color and mystery if I can find it

but I love great images. Working for my family and the Robinson Newspapers

has given me an opportunity to not only document our community for the West

Seattle Herald but keeps a camera in my hands so when I see a chance to make

a good photograph, I'm prepared.”

John Fleming: Mixed Media

MASKS & OTHER TRANSFORMATIONS

These assemblies represent a small portion of my larger Sign Language collection. Each piece is composed of multiple 2" squares cut from recycled traffic signs. The constructive process allows a scrambling and re-ordering of the original sign's message and purpose.

The Masks, like the construction of crossword puzzles slowly uncover a variety of characters and personalities. Some Masks are serious, others funny or sad. One uncovered that weasel-faced man from my re-occurring nightmare.

The Five x Five’s are purely abstractions, yet as abstractions they offer many possible stories and interpretations. At their core is the ‘RE’ story—Re-claim, Re-cycle, Re-interpret,

Re-examine, and Re-store.

Amanda Kay Helmick: 3-D Mixed Media, Acrylic

http://junkartkin.blogspot.com

smyliegrl@hotmail.com

My inspiration can be attributed to a love of found objects - and recycling. I start with the canvas. Paint can be acrylic, milk paint, crayon, etc then build additional textured layers. Then I add or subtract from the canvas - I have a love of rusty metal, mechanics and wood, and use these elements extensively for sculptures.
